Many times over the last two years, there has been a discussion over a Healing Garden to be planted in Middleborough.

In the grand scheme of things, Pratt Farm appears to be the perfect spot for this garden. It is nothing, but nature. However, it provides beautiful walking grounds and peace. There are scrolls of pale greens and darker greens in the spring, with exuberant songs of the birds filling the air.

Acres and acres provide so much to people from all over, looking for peace, exercise and a way to connect to nature among the hustle and bustle of life.

It was at Pratt Farm on November 15th that an announcement was made, that Greener Horizons, a business in Middleborough, has designed a Healing Garden for the farm.

The announcement came at a planting of a weeping cherry tree in the memory of Leona Weeden and was donated by Victoria Weeden and her family. As they memorialized the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and friend, they were assured that this planting was the very beginning of a spot for individuals to come to Pratt Farm for many reasons.

Middleborough on the Move has sponsored this garden and will be continuing on with the project in the year 2015. The design has been accepted as the one to be embraced at the beginning of Pratt Farm.

The beauty of Pratt Farm is a prime location for this beautiful garden. People will be able to enter the garden for peace, solace and meditation purposes. It will be a place to grieve and to heal. It will be a place for people to go to sit, meditate, grieve, reflect and find solace.

The new garden, with its beautiful design, of non invasive, natural native trees, shrubs and plantings will be included into the natural setting of Pratt Farm.

M.O.M. Wishes to thank Middleborough ELKS and Brian Lynch for their donations and Wally Glendye, Martha Williams, Al Dube and Richard Tinkham for helping to bring the beginning of the Healing Garden to the attention of the community, along with Michael Quirk and Bart Poulin for their effort in the design of the garden of which none of this would have happened, if not for their generous donation of time, effort and talent.

Donations will be accepted for the purchase of the various trees, shrubs, benches and materials to help establish this garden in memory of loved ones that have passed.

Donations may be made in check form to Middleborough on the Move with a listing of where or what you would want to be purchased with it and to designate a named love one it is to be in memory of. Checks may be sent to P.O. Box 210, Middleborough, MA 02346. You may also contact us by Email at: middleborohealinggarden@gmail.com.
